Condition

The canvas is unlined apart from a strip-lining along the four tacking edges. Ultraviolet light reveals only a few very minor strokes of retouching, notably in the woman's temple in the shadow from her veil, and minor strokes vertically in the shadowed area to the left of the signature. This painting is in very good, virtually original condition, and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative, substantial gilt frame, coved and fluted with leaf and berry motifs.
