Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This large and freely painted work is generally in very good state. The canvas is lined. The painting has been cleaned and restored, and it should be hung as is. The landscape and foreground are quickly painted. The artist used some glazes in the darker colors here, which seem to be very well preserved. The slight thinness that can be seen here and there shows a few tiny dots of retouching. The sky is also a rapidly painted passage. There is no abrasion per say, and there is certainly no paint loss associated with structural damage. There are a few spots of retouching around the sun / moon and a couple of random dots elsewhere in the sky. For a large picture of this kind, the condition is extremely good.
