Catalogue Note

Although no signature has been found on this table, it is a recorded model by Dasson and not known by any of his contemporaries. Dasson has modified the Louis XVI neoclassical style favored by Adam Weisweiler to suit market conditions and prevailing taste. Dasson also used the Weisweiler-style fluted tapering leg, however, the gilt-bronze plaques cast with putti studying the Arts is similar to the work of Jean-Henri Riesener.
