the flower-encrusted body applied on either side with a gilt leafy branch, upon which perches a small yellow canary, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue.

Condition

Both the vases and the covers have some very minor and occasional restored chips or small losses to the edges of the flowers and gilt leaves. One vase has restoration to the interior rim edge, which may be covering a chip; the restoration is very well done. Both vases have restoration to the tails of all the birds; one vase also has restoration to the heads of both birds. One vase has restoration to the upper portion of the gilt branch issuing from the base on one side, above the bird. The covers, each with some restoration to the tail of the bird. All restorations are professionally and well done.
