Condition
Overall the condition of the bust is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The marble would benefit from a professional clean. There is some naturally occurring veining visible on the surface, including a patch on the proper right collar bone, and there are a few minor inclusions consistent with material, including to the proper left side of the forehead, chin and left side of the collar. There are a few small abrasions around the edge of the truncation and the proper left revert and abdomen. There are 3 chips to the lower edge of the base.

Isaac Péreire was a prominent Jewish financier in 19th-century Paris and a bitter rival of the Rothschilds. The congelomerate that he and his brother Émile founded included the the Crédit Mobilier bank.
