Description

  • Harry Callahan
  • ELEANOR AND BARBARA, CHICAGO
  • Gelatin silver print
  • 6 7/8 x 6 3/4 inches
mounted on Brudno illustration board, signed in pencil on the mount, framed, 1954

Provenance

Phillips de Pury and Co. New York, 18 October 2003, Sale 40403, Lot 82

Condition

This early print, on paper with a slight surface sheen, is mounted on Brudno illustration board. It is in generally excellent condition. There are two tiny chips at the right edge. In raking light, the following are visible: a small deposit, likely retouching; and a raised linear area near Eleanor's head, likely a bubble that occurred during mounting. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce very slightly.
