Catalogue Note

A Zograscope was a device designed to magnify and distort an engraved image, most usually a scenic view. The print would have been laid on a table, with the hinged mirror angled to reflect this image and viewed through the lens, a sense of depth and perspective would have been created to delight the 18th century viewer.
