Catalogue Note
Houston was a high quality piano maker with premises at the ‘corner of Edward Street and 95 Wardour Street, Soho’. He acquired, with two other business partners Lewis and Hyde, the music publishing business of John Bland which traded at 45 High Holborn, but this was dissolved in 1795. Many pianos made by Houston were sold under the auspices of piano dealers or music publishers. This included music publishers such as John Bland, which explains the music publishers name above the keyboard.
