Description

  • Two Fallow Deer
  • bearing the seal of Shen Quan and dated Qianlong Yichou year (but later in date)
  • colour and ink on a silk hanging scroll laid on board
  • overall: 203 by 92.5cm., 80 by 36½in
  • Executed in China at the end of the 19th or early 20th century.

Condition

Decorative. There are some surface scratches and losses to the work and it is later re-lined. These scratches and losses are visible in the catalogue photograph. There are some areas of re-touching. There is some lifting to the silk. The peice may have been folded instead of rolled, probably before being glued to this later backing.
