- A Rare and Amusing Silver Gilt and Enamel Singing Bird Box desk timepiece with AlarmMvt 200116 Circa 1925
- gilt metal, enamel
- height 6 in (15 cm)
• rectangular case with translucent blue enamel over engine-turning, oval lid enameled with a polychrome scene of the l'île Rousseau in Geneva, brightly feathered singing bird below • the bird rises from a pierced and engraved reserve, flaps its wings and moves its beak • mounted on two columns supporting a drum shaped timepiece • champagne dial, Arabic numerals, subsidiary dial for alarm • all decorated en suite • case signed CH Marguerat, movement signed Angelus
Condition
Movement running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Case has enamel repair on the front right of the bird box, feather are lifting off of the bird, will likely require reattachment or refeathering. travel box with overall distressed surface, some restoration to enamel
