  • AN UNUSUAL 18K YELLOW GOLD HUNTING CASED MINUTE REPEATING AUTOMATON WATCH CIRCA 1900

• nickel lever movement, highly jeweled, bi-metallic compensation balance • glazed cuvette • central white enamel dial, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds below, polychrome enamel figures flanking the dial, the right with a knight in armor striking a bell held by a figure of a cherub, the cherub moves to and fro, in unison with the strike, at left a courtier striking a bell above, the whole applied to a gold matte ground • polished case

Condition

Movement- in good order and striking in phase, movement running, however would benefit from cleaning Dial- the figures nicely enameled, the enamel to bells, slightly worn, Case- the case is heavy and only minimal wear to the surface, overall a high quality piece and with unusual automaton feature of the putto moving in and out of the small structure at 12 o'clock
