Catalogue Note

The coat of arms featured on the reservse of the present lot is for the Kotschubey Family, from the Crimean Peninsula and who are descendants of Tartar nobility. The inscription underneath the shield reads, "Flevor Ubi Consumor."

For two similar watches see, Cammerer Cuss, T., The English Watch 1585-1970, pp. 238-239, pls.145 and 146, where it is noted that the center seconds can be set to the second and thus acts as a simple stopwatch. Further similarities include a nearly identical dial with eccentric hours and minutes and one case also stamped RP probably for Richard Palmer.
