• gilt three quarter plate movement, 2nd quality with ruby endstone, bi-metallic compensation balance, with gold lever escapement, gold cuvette • white enamel dial, blue enamel Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds • Louis XV-style case, the bezels set with seed pearls, back panel fitted with a medallion commemorating chased with the profile of Carl Prinz Von Preussen and the date 29 June 1801, the interior with his arms and the date 29 Jun 1881, crown form pendant, the band further set with seed pearls and red stones • movement signed

Condition

not running, fully wound, hands will set but lever for setting does not lock making handsetting difficult, will require overahaul glazed front cover, possibly done at special request, does not appear to have done post manufacture, Dial appears to be in good condition generally unmarked or scoffed, unusual blue enamel numerals, Case- the medallion is in good unrubbed condition

Catalogue Note

The present lot was evidently made to commemorate the 80th birthday of Carl Prinz Von Preussen (Charles, Prince of Prussia). He is remembered today for his military career as well as his impressive collection of art and objects.
