From Cape Anguille to Ferolle point, this chart is the fourth chart from Cook's Newfoundland survey, carried out prior to his three circumnavigations It appeared in the first part of the North American Pilot, the most thorough and detailed mapping of the Canadian territory ceded to Great Britain at the end of the French and Indian war
These surveys, executed to a high standard and under difficult conditions, brought Cook to the attention of the Admiralty and helped secure his appointment to the Endeavour and on to greater things.
