39 plates from this work (average paper sizes, according to Abbey, c.700 x 520mm. but here with margins obscured or reduced; image sizes vary), 39 lithographed plates by Joseph B. Kidd (of 50), and one other plate by Kidd of Falmouth, coloured by hand, framed and glazed, [Abbey, Travel 686; Tooley (1954) 288; not in Bobins], a few (about 7) with slight defects (short repaired tears, slight stains or discoloration, etc.)

"Rare. The finest large scale coloured plates on Jamaica"(Tooley). This collection comprises plate numbers 1-4, 6-37, 39-40 and 48, of a total of 50 published. The work appeared in ten parts, apparently without text, and is very rare at auction. For a full list of the plates see www.sothebys.com.
