53 cards, 52 suit cards plus an explanatory card, each 97 x 62mm., engraved with red stencilling for suit symbols, plain versos, 13 mounted in a frame, the rest in a folder attached to the back of the frame, one word excised from the head of the five of spades

There are two suits of birds (hearts and diamonds) and two suits of beasts. It is thought that Lenthall based these on a set of German cards from the early seventeenth century and reversed the images.

This set has a red tax stamp on the king of spades which dates this pack towards the end of Lenthall's career; he had first issued them in c.1714.
