Catalogue Note

One of the drawings depicts an Aborigine hunting a kangaroo with a spear, the other an Aborigine holding a boomerang. These were apparently drawn by a convict in Perth Gaol and were acquired by the great-grandfather of the present owner, Edmund Waller (1835-1894), who was a prison warder at the gaol. Perth Gaol was built 1854-56 and closed in 1888.
