Catalogue Note
These photographic negatives were almost certainly made by Wilfrid Archibald Alexander (1892-1927), son of Sir Claud Alexander of Ballochmyle, Ayrshire, 2nd Bt. He became British Consul in Peking, where he died of a fever aged 34, leaving a wife and three young children. This group of images are mainly landscape and topographical views, some of Chinese buildings and people and a few of Alexander's family or friends.
