Folio (365 x 255mm.), 49 leaves, each with a single fiscal stamp lithographed directly onto the page in various colours (recto only), surrounded by decorative lithographed borders in red and green titled above in Ottoman Turkish and below in French, Turkish red half calf over red silk boards, flat spine titled in French in gilt, one cover gilt stamped with the tughra of Abdul Hamid II, the other gilt stamped with an Ottoman emblematic device, some light spotting, spine and corners rather scuffed, light waterstaining to boards

Catalogue Note

A rare volume of Ottoman fiscal stamps, which had been issued during the Public Debt crisis. The fiscal stamps in this volume have been printed directly onto the individual leaves, with 43 'Droit Proportionnel' stamps and 6 'Droit Fixe' stamps. The title is taken from the lettering on the spine.
