Condition
The panel is flat and even, and lined on the reverse with a canvas providing additional support. There is a light circa 8cm diagonal scratch in the lower left corner only visible under raking light. Ultraviolet light reveals some minor retouching, notably a circa 17cm thin vertical line (addressing a restored scratch or hairline crack) from the lower edge of the panel through the girl's left forearm to her veil, and some scattered spots of retouching along the lower framing edge and in her right cheek. There is another 30cm fine line of restoration to the left of the girl's head visible under raking light. This work is overall in good condition and its appearance is good. The images in the 1984 catalogue raisonné depict the work in its pre-restored state.
Held in a black-painted fluted frame with a gilt inner accent.
The colours are brighter and more intense in reality than in the catalogue illustration.
