Catalogue Note

Pedro Mexia (1497-1551) was a poet, anthologist and court historian to Charles V. His most popular work was the Silva de varia leccion, first published in Seville in 1540, which was modelled on the Noctes atticae of Aulus Gellius and was reprinted 33 times in 150 years.
