Catalogue Note

John Frith (1503-1533) was an evangelical scholar and martyr under Henry VIII whose views on the sacraments, written down while he was in prison on charges of heresy, prompted Thomas More to write his Letter... impugnynge the erronyouse wrytyng of J. Fryth (1533; STC 18090). His Boke was first published in 1533 in Antwerp (with the false imprint of "Monster", i.e. Munster).
