Catalogue Note

Laurence Tomson was a scholar and civil servant who for fifteen years worked in the service of Sir Francis Walsingham. He was known for his Calvinist sympathies, translating not only this edition of Calvin's sermons but also the 1576 New Testament of Théodore de Bèze.
