Catalogue Note

This is a rare survival of a Catholic liturgical book produced in London during Mary I's reign, though there were also editions produced on the Continent for the English market, as had happened earlier in the sixteenth century.

John King's workshop was next to that of John Cawood, Royal Printer to Queen Mary (see lot 104) and he was one of the original members of the Stationers' Company. John Walley was also an early member of the Company.
