Catalogue Note

ISTC lists only twelve works that were printed by Köllicker in Basel between 1483 and 1485; he died in 1486. He worked in partnership with the printer Johann Meister during these years, although Meister is not named in any colophon. The oversized heading type used in this work is close to Wenssler's type 180; Meister had been involved in printing a missal funded by Andreas Bischoff and after Bischoff's death in 1482 the type was impounded and then used by Wenssler. Meister then regained the type and used it during his partnership with Köllicker (Allan Stevenson, The problem of the Missale Speciale, 1967, discusses Meister at length).

Several of Köllicker's works were previously ascribed (by both Proctor and Panzer) to Johann Amerbach, as their typefaces are very similar. The ascription is repeated here in Kloss's manuscript reference to Panzer on the inside front cover and in the Kloss sale catalogue.
