The painting is in moderately satisfactory state of conservation. It has been strongly relined about fifty years ago and this restoration has flatten the paint surface. The painting is under a dirty varnish which needs to be remove. They are restoration in the upper corners, the background have been quite widely retouched. There is a restoration in the neck of the girl on the right. Under UV lamp: The painting is under a thick green uniform varnish which covers the restoration previously mentioned, restorations are however obvious. We can notice a retouch in the hand holding the dog. The character remain well preserved.
