The painting is in moderately satisfactory state of conservation. It has been relined there is less than ten years, a bit too strongly and this slightly compressed the texture. There are some small worn areas in the darker parts. The work has a slightly visible network of uniform cracks, particularly on the darker areas. No visible restoration. Under UV lamp: The painting is under a thick green uniform varnish. There is a small restoration in the upper right corner due to the scratching of the frame. Some small dots of restoration in the lower right corner and in the hand and arm of the executioner.
