Condition
Overall very good original condition. This sideboard shows wonderful coloration to the decorated front two doors that presents with even more saturated colors than what is portrayed in the catalogue illustration. The detailed coloration of the doors range from a strong deep blue hue to brilliant hues of yellows and reds. The exterior of the case is executed in overlapping patinated metal panels with some light surface scratches and some minor edge lifting. The painted wooden foot of the sideboard with some minor edge losses, scratches and nicks as seen in the catalogue illustration. The interior is fitted with three adjustable green felt covered shelves and original shelf hardware. The reverse of the sideboard is painted and the work is intended for use against a wall. The reverse with some minor areas of white paint. The back of the sideboard with eleven holes to secure the sideboard to the wall for safety which is part of the original design. The front edge of the wooden case with four drilled holes that appear later, and are not visible once the doors are properly placed. A superb example of the rare Wavy Front motif.
Please note this piece is of considerable weight. Please contact the department or post sale services for assistance in the transport of this work. The doors are removable from the frame for shipment of the sideboard.

IN CONTEXT:
We made the “Wavy Front” first in the 6 foot length. We began by building the box and then we laid out the frame on a steel table. Paul would come out and draw the curves and the shapes he wanted. After, I would bend them all and weld it. Then I would put on the background and we would transition and begin to mark the decoration. The coloration was the final step. Once the coloration was done it was varnished.

We would then load the cabinet in the station wagon and sometimes Paul would come for the delivery. About 90 percent would be delivered by the workmen in the studio. I would hang the work and Paul would meet with the client.
