Catalogue Note
Soapstone scholar’s rocks are unusual, with the present piece a fine example of a microcosmic mountain more commonly found in lingbi, Taihu stone, ying and other types of stones. The material is fashioned with care, as well as being smoothed and patinated naturally over the centuries.
