Description

carved in the form of the traditional musical instrument qin, detailed with tuning knobs and marks, the top crisply carved vertically with a poetic inscription in seal script, paying homage to ancient scholars and their musical instruments, the underside incised along its length in running script reading Jiaqing jiaxu xiaochun yue Chu’an timing ('Inscribed by Chu’an in the tenth month of the jiaxu year during the Jiaqing period', corresponding to 1814)

Condition

There are some nicks along the edges, including a 4 mm flake to the top left edge, and scratches on the upper side. There are some deep scratches on the underside beside the inscription.
