Description

The broken pediment with foliate-carved cornice centered by a cartouche with the arms of Drummond of Blair and dogs-head crest and with motto E Cura Quies, the foliate-carved frieze above a rectangular beveled plated within a bead-and-reel molded border and sanded-ground frame with extending rectangular corners and dart-and-egg molded edge, the apron centered by a shell flanked by foliate acanthus leaves.  The back with an old partial paper label inscribed HEBY & Co / London with a pencilled inscription underneath S...N ROOM.

Condition

Good condition; the gilding flaking in places and with losses to the gilding throughout; it; most probably originally oil-gilt; the carved detail is very fine; the mirror plate may be original with a soft bevel and with some crystallization to the base; front left corner of broken-pediment top with a small chip.
