Description

  • clay
with concave base, high rounded shoulder and tapering neck, finely painted in reddish-brown and dark brown slips against a cream ground, with a broad panel enclosing a pair of rosettes, a narrow band of birds with exaggerated tailfeathers, and heartline deer above and below feathered arches, the neck with stylized geometric motifs and cross-hatched details.

Condition

The jar is in very good overall condition. Under black light, some minor in-painting on the surface can be detected. There is no evidence of cracks or plaster.
