modelled as a couple wearing oriental clothing and turbans, both seated on stools smoking hussar pipes, the man holding a money bag and the woman holding a gilt palmette, with blue underglaze factory mark
Condition
Both figures with restored gilding (excepting the palmette of the female figure), and very small scattered areas of light retouching to the paintwork throughout. The male figure with two repaired cracks, opposite one another to the left and right of the base. The left 3cm long, 1cm of which closest to the edge has opened 1mm wide (visible in the printed catalogue illustration). The right 2cm long, 1cm of which has opened closest to the edge less than 1mm. The pipe hole of the male figure filled from the reverse.
