Description

  • silver
  • height 27.6cm, 11in.
the tapering body engraved with strapwork within applied bands, the c-scroll handle with dotted chevron border, the hinged domed lid with removable cap inset with a silver coin of Nicholas II, gilt interior, 84 standard

Condition

Good condition with surface scratches and wear, two shallow dents to the side. Although Postnikova-Losseva records this maker as working until 1892, the removable cap inset with the coin of Nicholas as emperor, which could only be as early as 1894, is struck with his maker's mark. The coin seems not to have been replaced.
