Catalogue Note

Based on a 1783 tureen by Moscow silversmith Alexei Kosyrev now in the State Historical Museum (51526/ok 5445, see Moscow: Treasures and Traditions, Seattle, 1990, pp. 99, 102, 250-251), this piece demonstrates Sazikov's mastery of the national patrimony and his use of it to inspire new works.
