Catalogue Note

For a comparable presentation ring with the diamond-set cypher of Catherine II on a polished chrysoprase in the Hermitage collections, see O. Kostiuk, Peterburgskie iuveliry XVIII-XIX vek, St. Petersburg, 2000, p. 79 and U. Tillander-Godenhielm, Jewels from Imperial St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg/La Berlière, 2012, p. 21. A presentation ring with a cameo portrait of the Empress and another with the diamond-set monogram of Pavel Petrovich are reproduced on pages 92 and 93 of the former. It is interesting to note that all three examples, like the present lot, are unmarked.
