Catalogue Note
This figure can be compared with Robert Garrard's Arab-themed centerpieces for the Grocers' Company (of which he was a member), the first of 1842 showing an encampment, the second with figures of 1853 including a stallion and turbanned figure riding a camel (see The Glory of the Goldsmith: Magnificent Gold and Silver from the Al-Tajir Collection, no. 171, pp. 220-21).
