Catalogue Note
The melon form is based on 18th Century Dutch examples, which are illustrated in M. H. Gans and Th. M. Duyvene de Wit-Klinkhamer, Dutch Silver, 1961, p. 94.
The arms are those of Hall-Dare, of Newtonbarry, Co. Wexford and Theydon Bois, Co. Essex, probably for Robert Westley Hall-Dare, b. 1817, m. 1839 Frances Anna Catherine, daughter of Gustavus Lambert of Beauparc, Co. Meath.
