the realistically painted figure of Christ shown at half-length, blessing and holding the open Gospels, with oklad decorated in brightly colored cloisonné enamel in floral and geometric patterns, the Gospels in champlevé enamel and the halo with seed pearls, the outer edges raised to resemble half-columns, the oklad Ovchinnikov, Moscow, circa 1895, contained in original silk-lined wood case of the firm Ovchinnikov
