the sauceboats with beaded borders and reeded handles, on stepped oval bases; the inkstand on claw-and-ball feet and with beaded borders, fitted with three wells for cut-glass inkwells with silver tops and candlestand, underside with presentation inscription dated 1789

Provenance

The presentation  inscription on the underside of inkstand reads: "From the Rev. T. Bedford to A. Birch On account of 23 Years uninterrupted Friendship.  He died May 30, 1789 Aged 86."
