rectangular, the cover enamelled with scrolling ornament in champlevé, the arched aperture framing an icon of St. Michael standing with a sword, the reverse with a Cyrillic dedicatory inscription to "Our August Chief [from] the Fifth Life Guards Mounted Battery 1878  23 November 1903" followed by a list of senior officers, with suspension ring
