Catalogue Note
When the designs for the dessert portion of the Kremlin Service were officially approved in 1837, it was also specified that the same ornament, centered with a medallion with a Lion and a Sun, symbols of Persian kingship, should be used to create a service to be given to Mohammed Shah Qajar (1808-1848), Shah of Persia. On this service, see Geraldika na russkom farfore, St. Petersburg, 2008, p. 242.
