Catalogue Note

The note from Maria Nikolaevna on August 15th, 1917 reads: "Dear Vera Vladimirovna, Thank you from my heart for your good wishes. I hope you have recovered completely. It is so sad to be ill in the summer when one wants to be outside in the fresh air. With my love and best wishes, M." This was written while the family was in exile in Tobolsk.

The note from Olga Nikolaevna on July 12, 1917 reads: "My dear Vera Vladimirovna, I was deeply touched and thank you for your good wishes. We all send you our greetings. Our vegetable garden is flourishing. We have also helped in harvesting the hay and I learned a little how to scythe. Wishing you all the best, O." This was written while the family was under house arrest at the Alexander Palace.
