rectangular, of oval section, with blue translucent enamel over a moiré engine-turned ground and with two-color gold mounts engraved with foliate chevrons, the cover set with a gold portrait medal of Catherine II surrounded by diamonds, with diamond-set thumbpiece

the cover lacking one diamond, with evidence of reenamelling; the hinge slightly loose
