Catalogue Note

Svaneti Landscape dates from Gudiashvili's most acclaimed period, when the artist was living in Paris. Shortly after his arrival in 1920, he became an integral part of the artistic life of the French capital, exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne the same year. The catalogue for the artist's solo exhibition at the Galerie Billiet in 1925 lists three paintings as Paysage, one of which is possibly the present work.
