Condition
There are some minor spots of dirt, stains and small areas of paint on the front. The material is creased. Otherwise in overall good condition. Unframed.

Catalogue Note
The present lot is a recreation of an item from a 1980 installation exhibited at the Ronald Feldman Gallery in New York in 1980 and entitled Onward to the Final Victory of Capitalism. The installation included a store-bought American flag modified to show the cosmos in place of the traditional stars representing the states. The flagpole leaned in a corner next to a series of Soviet-style propaganda posters about the merits of capitalism. The Future American Flag was created shortly after the exhibition by the artists as a stand-alone piece for the current owner.
