Condition

The canvas has been lined and put onto a new stretcher. The original tacking edges have been cut. There are some abrasions along the edges and craquelure in places. There are some minor areas of paint loss in places, such as the white cover of the wagon left of the centre, to the right of the figure in the foreground, and the white bag lower right. There are minor stains of gold paint along the edges, probably from a previous frame. UV light reveals no apparent signs of retouching. Held in a modern wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
