Acquired directly from the artist in the South of France by the father of the present owner in the 1940s
Condition
Original canvas with an earlier oil sketch on the reverse, thought to be by another hand. There is a vertical scratch approximately 6 cm long with associated paint loss near the center of the lower edge. There is a layer of surface dirt and spots of dirt in places throughout. The varnish has discoloured. Under UV there is a layer of discoloured varnish and no apparent signs of retouching. Held in a frame. Unexamined out of frame.
