Catalogue Note
This is a design for one of the plates in L'Art Décoratif Théâtral Moderne, Editions La Cibelle, Paris, 1919, a folio of prints produced by Larionov and Goncharova featuring examples of their pochoir prints and lithography. The folio illustrates their interest in both stage and costume design, while emphasising their desire to combine forms of Cubism with the representation of movement. Another version of this work is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
