Catalogue Note

The 1915 designs for the ballet Liturgie are some of Goncharova's most striking works, inspired both by Rayonism and Byzantine art. Several versions are signed both by Goncharova and her partner Mikhail Larionov, suggesting some degree of collaboration and the present lot is inscribed with a dedication in French to Goncharova by Larionov.
